Expert Domiciliary Foot Care

Treating your feet in the comfort of your own home

About Kingdom Footcare
Our qualified, registered, and insured Foot Health Practitioner provides professional domiciliary foot care services tailored to meet your needs in the comfort of your own home.

With 7 years of medical background working on the front line for the Scottish Ambulance Service, our FHP is well versed in health conditions, medications and underlying causes of poor foot health.

Conditions and treatments required out-with scope of practise of an FHP can be referred to local podiatrists, and where GP input is needed, we will advise appropriately.

Products can be provided for minor ailments such as verrucas, Athlete's Foot, cracked heels and dry skin.

Nail Cutting and Filing

We offer professional nail cutting and filing services to maintain healthy and well-groomed nails, helping to prevent ingrown nails and other issues. This service is perfect for those with mobility problems, unable to reach to their feet, or with issues such as thickened nails. Visits to care and nursing homes can also be arranged.

Thickened Nails

These often occur as part of the aging process, or after trauma to the nail. They can become uncomfortable if pressure from footwear occurs and be difficult to trim with standard clippers. The Foot Health Professional can thin these down, improving appearance and comfort.

Fungal Nails

An extremely common, and often embarrassing problem are fungal nails. These are caused by fungus invading the nail bed and discolouring and changing the structure of the nail, often causing discolouration, crumbling, thickening and smelly nails. Good feet hygiene including daily changing of socks, airing of shoes and regular nail maintenance is key to keeping these at bay. Over the counter treatments offer a solution but require perseverance with daily application and regular trimming of nails. Your FHP can provide you with treatment, or recommend products to purchase.

Callus and Corn Removal

Our callus and corn removal treatments help relieve discomfort and pain, leaving your feet feeling smooth and comfortable. We use files, drill attachments and scalpels depending on the extent of the problem. Often caused by ill-fitting shoes, corns and calluses are likely to re-occur if footwear isn't rotated or changed regularly. Being on your feet for long periods of time is also a reason for hard skin developing. Its nature's way of defending the soft skin underneath. Regular maintenance can help keep on top of a build up.

Verruca Treatment

Verrucas are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus and can be extremely painful. Some people are more prone to these than others, but are commonly contracted from having bare feet in communal areas such as swimming pools and health suites. Not easy to get rid of, our FHP can remove top layers of skin to reveal the infected tissue, and recommend remedies such as Bazuka, which can be purchased at a pharmacy, or prescribed by your GP. Perseverance is key, with daily application and weekly filing. For more stubborn verrucas, referral to a podiatry clinic that provides SWIFT treatment is a faster and more effective way to eliminate the problem.

Athlete's Foot

Extremely common for people who wear heavy footwear such as workboots, or those wearing trainers day in and day out, Athlete's Foot is most common in between the toes, causing severe itchiness and cracking of the skin. Less commonly it can also occur on the soles of the feet. This can be easily treated with sprays or creams. Good foot hygiene is also important, and it is recommended that footwear is alternated daily to allow them to dry out, which helps kill off the bacteria lurking in the dry, moist conditions.

Ingrowing Toenails

Ingrowing toenails can occur for a number of reasons, including mis-shapen nails, sometimes following trauma, incorrect cutting of nails and shoes being too narrow. Depending on the severity, these can be fixed by snipping off the offending edge of the nail far enough down to encourage straighter growth, partial nail removal, or complete nail removal. FHPs are not qualified to administer local anaesthetics to provide a pain-free procedure, but can point you in the direction of a Podiatrist who can.

Diabetic Foot Care

People who suffer from diabetes often develop neuropathy in their legs and feet, which alters their sensation, including complete numbness. This makes them more at risk of undetected injuries. Due to poor circulation, wounds are more difficult to heal, and can develop into ulcers. Ulcers are particularly difficult to treat, requiring dressing changes numerous times a week. Regular visits from our Foot Health Practitioner can provide feet maintenance and inspection to avoid missing these injuries, and also risk free nail trimming to avoid you snipping too short and inflicting these injuries yourself.
